The Nigel Mansell ‘Positive About Youth’ cycle challenge will also be dropping in (pun intended) to the trails at Western Park in Leicester on Monday, August 2nd. There is a free family focussed open day planned at the park from 11am through to 4pm. The day promises to be a whole lot of fun for all the family and will feature coaching sessions for riding the trails, bike maintenance sessions provided by Freewheels, and Cyclemagic will be there with lots of fun bikes for people to try. Lisa McCartney of Creative Problem Solvers will also be there – Lisa uses old bicycle parts to produce stylish, functional products to be worn or used around the home.
On hand to greet the Peleton will be the Lord Mayor of Leicester, Councillor Colin Hall and the new MP for Leicester West, Liz Kendall.
The event is open to all, but young people (under 18s) wishing to participate will need to have parental consent in order to ride the trails and benefit from the coaching available; these will be available on the day and will be distributed before the event on our flyer.
Check out this cool snippet of footage of some of the more gnarly sections of the trails.
