London Bike Club held a stall at the Access Sport Festival of Cycling at the Lee Valley Country Park, which was part of their Ride Around London Event.
Thanks to Bike Club, young people were able to make delicious healthy pedal powered smoothies on the bike blender, pedal power music and bubbles and try out Bike Polo which was an Olympic sport at the London games of 1908, all of which the London Bike Hub kindly provided on our behalf.
Young people chose their ingredients from fresh fruits, berries, juice and yoghurt, then worked hard on the bike to make their bespoke smoothie.
How did they taste?
“delicious!” “very refreshing” “worth the effort” “cool!”
Bike polo proved a challenge for those that had a go. It is very popular in London and is a fast growing sport – London Bike Hub can help those who are interested in becoming proficient bike polo players.
Access Sport is involved in the BMX legacy project, which aims to build five new community focused BMX clubs with BMX tracks in the Olympic Boroughs. The clubs will give young people a new opportunity to cycle in the Capital, and will link in with the Olympic Velopark to be be inherited by the Lee Valley Regional Park after the 2012 Olympics.
David Boreman, the Event Organiser for Access Sport, said:
“We are looking forward to next year’s Festival and putting on even more cycling activities for young people to try out!”
