Do you work with young people?

Level1_2Bike Club is a new initiative that aims to use cycling as means to engage with children and young people and challenge them to try something new. Young people will have the opportunity to have their activities and achievements recognised through the Youth Achievement Awards.

Bike Club offers something to children outside the school curriculum. Youth clubs, extended services and youth groups are all able to use cycling as a great way to broaden the horizons of children and young people between the ages of 10 and 20. Our pilot projects offer examples of what Bike Club can do.

Of the Bike Clubs that will be set up in 2009, most will be in particular areas, centred around pairs of Cycling Towns, with a Bike Club development officer offering guidance in each location.

Bike Club is backed by the experts

Three organisations have got together to form the Bike Club Consortium. They’re combining their knowledge of young people, learning and cycling to create Bike Club.

UKYUK Youth is a national charity developing and promoting high quality youth work and educational opportunities for and with young people. It is the largest non-uniformed young people’s organisation, supporting a network of over 7,000 youth groups, clubs and projects across the UK, with over 750,000 young people engaged through these networks. Bike Club will offer opportunities to gain UK Youth’s Youth Achievement Awards through cycling activities.

continyou_logoContinYou is the UK’s leading body dealing with extended services, ensuring that education takes place in a variety of environments beyond school hours. ContinYou’s experience of establishing projects like Sing Up means that cycling will now be available in theĀ  formats pioneered by the organisation, such as their succesful breakfast clubs.
